Music Technology in Practice
Putting your technology skills and knowledge to use in classroom and workshop settings
Thursday 9th February and Thursday 23rd February 2012
The Old Courthouse, Thirsk
10am - 4pm both days
Run by experienced practitioner, Andrew Cleaton, this 2 day course is designed for those who have an understanding of the basic principles of music technology and want to improve how they use these skills to support young people's learning within classroom and workshop settings. Participants require background knowledge of music technology to benefit from this course.
Day one will focus on using more advanced music technology techniques and software. Day two will focus on using music technology to teach all aspects of the music curriculum.
“The Production Process”
An overview of the various stages of contemporary music production. Designed with educationalists in mind, this material supports the teaching of music technology.
• MIDI programming & production
• Mastering... and much more
“The Education Process”
Whilst the focus of Day One is very much on music technology, Day Two will concentrate on using music technology to teach all aspects of the music curriculum.
• Ways into composition – the blank page and the creative process
• Aural training
• Music technology in instrumental tuition
• Music and the moving image – music for dance/film/TV/video
• Software and internet resources
• Example lesson plans and topics
• Plenary discussion and troubleshooting
All sessions will be supported by course notes and software distributed to participants on USB Memory Sticks.
Although the course will cover many typical software applications it is not intended to be specific to any particular software. This is, therefore, not “How To use Cubase”. Instead the focus will be on key concepts and transferable skills. Many examples will be demonstrated using a variety of freely available shareware.
£40 for MusicLeader members and £80 for non MusicLeader members.
